About Ian

EXPERIENCE

Ian joined Fee, Smith & Sharp, LLP in January 2025. Prior to joining Fee Smith, Ian was a partner at a well-known Houston-based firm. Ian maintains a diverse litigation practice with an emphasis on personal injury litigation in the areas of oil and gas, transportation, and premises liability. He also maintains an active docket of construction defect matters. Ian also advises clients on indemnity and additional insured issues in contracts related to oil and gas work.

When he is not working, Ian enjoys spending time with family, cooking, wade fishing the Texas coast, and reading Texas history.

Representative matters:

  • Obtained summary judgment for a general contractor in a lawsuit related to the remodel and restoration of an existing hotel. The hotel owner sought more than $3 million in damages.
  • Part of trial team that obtained a defense verdict for a condominium association in a wrongful death claim related to the absence of an anti-tip device on a range.
  • Second chair in trial that resulted in a defense verdict on behalf of a rodeo association that was sued for a barrel racing accident that resulted in quadriplegia. He also handled the appeal that resulted in the verdict/judgment being affirmed.
  • Obtained favorable settlement in Dram Shop action resulting in traumatic brain injury resulting from motorcycle accident.
  • On appeal struck a plaintiff’s liability expert and overturned judgment on gross negligence.
  • On appeal affirmed trial court summary judgment affirming appraisal district’s taxation did not violate the Commerce Clause of the United States Constitution.
  • Favorable verdict in day care negligence case when 18-month-old child was burned by bottle warmer.
