Mauricio Chavez joined Fee Smith in 2020 and maintains a diverse litigation practice with an emphasis on personal injury, construction liability and defects, transportation liability, products liability, premises liability, and breach of contract. He represents clients in both federal and state courts, as well as arbitration proceedings.
Prior to joining FS&S, Mr. Chavez practiced at a distinguished South Texas law firm specializing in admiralty and maritime law. Mr. Chavez also has experience representing insurance carriers in first-party litigation suits alleging bad faith and violations of the Texas Insurance Code.
Mr. Chavez draws on his considerable experience to assess the key legal issues presented in each matter early on, followed by a focused approach to meet the objectives of the client in an efficient and effective manner.
For five years, in addition to his law practice, Mr. Chavez operated his family’s longtime commercial fishing business in Brownsville, Texas. During that time, Mr. Chavez gained valuable experience in all aspects of running a small business and uniquely understands navigating through the difficult challenges, financial and otherwise, that business owners face when a legal dispute arises.
Mr. Chavez was born in Nicaragua and is fluent in Spanish.
