Michael Merrick maintains a varied practice as an Attorney with Fee, Smith, Sharp & Vitullo, L.L.P. This variety allows him to represent companies and individuals
in a wide array of disputes in federal and state courts throughout Texas.
Prior to joining the firm in 2008, Mr. Merrick practiced with two respected litigation boutiques in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Merrick gained practical litigation experience
in the areas of medical negligence, premises liability, construction defect, insurance coverage, municipal defense, Uniform Commercial Code and lien disputes, breach
of contract and related business disputes, and commercial collection. Mr. Merrick also gained invaluable appellate experience as briefing counsel in disputes regarding
the scopes of the Tort Claims Act and Trust Fund Act.
Mr. Merrick's experience to date has allowed him to quickly assess the claims brought against his clients. He concentrates on implementing strategies that capture and
reinforce the "big picture: themes of each lawsuit to obtain the best possible results for clients. Coupled with the solid training he received at Baylor Law School,
Mr. Merrick's trial and appellate experience provides clients with effective, no-nonsense representation during each stage of a case, be it during pre-trial discovery,
negotiation, mediation, and at trial.
While in law school, Mr. Merrick was a member of the Harvey M. Ritchie Moot Court Society and actively participated in moot court competitions. Mr. Merrick continues to
maintain an active lifestyle these days by getting outdoors to swim, scuba, and skydive.
